Question New kid on the block

I have been reading some of the posts here and I think this is great. I will get right to the point. I have been addicted to Norco for nearly three years now. I just went through rehab about three weeks ago but due to severe stomach pain, I started taking the pills again. Before detox I was taking over 30 a day and now I am at about 16 to 18. I want to go cold turkey but I am not sure it is safe and cannot really ask for help from any doctors due to disability issues. Is it dangerous to go cold turkey and will it be as bad as it was in rehab? I have Xanax and Clonidine patches as well as Zofran for stomach. Am I making a big mistake or should I taper? Taper doesn't seem to work for me and I want this over with. My girlfreind can't know I am back on the pills or she will leave and she is out of town for a week or so. Can anyone give me any advice on this? I am really not sure what to do. How bad and how long will this last? It only took about 3 days in rehab until after 2 days after detox my stomach got severe pain and I had to go to ER. I don't want to go through that all again and I was thinking since I just got out of rehab it might not be so bad or am i wishful thinking. Thanks for any reply.

Wink Re: New kid on the block

I'm on 8 days clean today from a 40-50 pill habit. Look up my recent posts for what I've been going through. It was a rough week, but I can tell you at the end of one week it gets better! Once, you quit CT, and you have too. The taper plan don't work for people like us.Trust me I tried. The only way is just to quit and plan the week of hell. But know there is a huge light at the end of the tunnel. I didn't have an appetite until yesterday at day 7. That was because I finally took my cough laying booty to the gym and did the stair master for 15 min. It was rough but has to be done. After the gym I was so hungry. Finally, I got to eat!

So trust me, stop now before the 18 a day pill grows back into the old habit of 30 a day. Be thankful you're alive and read other posts about how eventually the withdrawls and depression ends. Taking the xanax and clonidine patch is great for the first week as you're going through the WD, but after it must stop. Make sure to drink lots of gatorade, and the ensure drinks (strawberry) so you can flush your system. Aslo, some other vitamins. Everyone responds differently to different herbs, but you can find which ones worked for which folks throughout this board.

Just know the WD will end! Do it now!
