Arrow Metoprolol

Hello, I am currently taking Metoprolol for my PAC's, PVC's, and sinus tachycardia. I do not NEED to be on this medication, but my symptoms have been affecting me quite a bit so that's why I opted to be on it. Has anyone else had any experience with this med or any of the same symptoms I have?

Re: Metoprolol

Hello Dreamer555,

I have been taking Metoprolol for almost 3 years. I started taking it after having 2 heart attacks and a triple bypass. I personally don't have an adverse effects from it.

There is a lot of in depth information on drug interaction, and medical conditions that would cause you to have a problem with this drug listed on the data sheet that comes with it. It is in the group of beta blockers, there is a lot of information to be found about these.

I wasn't aware that you would be given this type of medication if you don't, as you say, need to be on it. Normally your doctor would only prescribe it if he indeed thought it necessary.

Re: Metoprolol

I have been on this for about 4 yrs and my doc told me i dont have to be on it its not a life or death thing, it helps with my palps and keeps my blood pressure down, it wasnt really high but keeps it at a normal range. I only take 25mg once a day so he has now switched me to toporol xl that is to be taken just once a day its the extended release one or something like that. I have never had any effects from it but when i was on 50mg a day i noticed i was always so worn out i did good to get out of bed.

Re: Metoprolol

I am being treated for high bp and palpitations (tachycardia) with metoprolol, vasotec, and xanax (for anxiety). Recently I have been having numbness and discomfort in my hands. I have had carpal tunnel syndrome and my orthopedist thinks that's what this is, but it feel much different and worse. I have been doing some reading on metoprolol and see that one of the side effects can be Raynaud's syndrome, which is numbness and pain in the hands. I have to talk to my prescribing doctor about this, but am wondering if anyone else has had side effects like this with metoprolol.
Thanks.
