Post finally an emg test but is it accurate

I finally got the wc/dr. to schedule me an emg with a physician. It's been two weeks since my encruciating pain and the swelling has went down. The pain is still in my palm of my hand and localized just below my wrist. The numbmess is in the thumb and padding area and middle finger. Sometimes it splits and is on the other half of my hand and usually goes all the way up to my shoulder. I cant hold my hands in phlange test position ( I think thats the spelling dont know) anyway after 45 seconds the hand is in pain and you can see the wrist looks more swollen then the other one. Now my question is She waited and tried to get all the swelling down and to see if the pain would go away, now that my hand doesnt look as bad as it did and the swelling is gone will the emg be accurate. I have read they are inconsistent and not much concrete unless there is major damage and you know by then any repair is just out of the question. Should I contact a lawyer now or wait untill wc rejects my claim. Thanks for any info Its terrible we have to continue to cover our backs like this. I have already started down a journal of events , telephone calls and so on. To have on hand if I ever go to court so I can recall who said what and when. Anymore advice please I dont want to get the shaft. My hand is the only one I will have and I want it fixed. I just keep rattling on but I have heard so much terrible stories I fear I will get run over as well.
