Exclamation failed surgery - pain is worse

I had the reduction surgery a few years ago. After everything healed the pain was gone and my hands and wrists felt better. In the last year the pain returned and in the last three months it has become much worse. Is there anyone else out there going through the same thing? How are you handling it?

I had one in 2000 and it went great, my left was done 2 months ago and it is worse than before the surgery, have residual neuropathy. Now the other hand and wrist are giving me grieve because of the left one still recovering from surgery and have no strength yet. I'm not dealing with it to be honest, just hoping with more time some of the nerve sensations will calm down.

Cool

Hi Backshift
I had the surgery about 7 years ago & the symptoms have come back, along with a bit of muscle wasting. I've been offered 2nd surgery a few times but turned it down. The reason is that the more surgery you have, the more scar tissue there is. The scar tissue squashes the median nerve & you're back to square one.

I do exercises with an elastic band to build up the muscles, take 100mg vitamin b6 per day, wear a cock-up splint on my dominant hand at night & sometimes a thumb splint during the day.

I keep reminding myself that things could be a lot worse. I have a friend who lost the use of his entire arm in a bike smash. I spend all day at a computer & my hobbies include artwork & gardening. A doctor might tell me that to stop doing these things would improve the cts but I wouldn't give up my hobbies. It's all just mind over matter I suppose.

Have you tried cortisone shots? Maybe the splints or b6 would be worth a try if you're not already doing that too. I read somewhere that there's now laser treatment for cts as well. Hope you find something to help soon.
