hair smell

For the past couple of months each day that I don't wash my hair, I smell this sour smell. And I know it has to be my hair. I don't understand why it's doing this all of a sudden. I used to wash my hair every other day and it was just fine, still smelled great. So now I've been washing it everyday which I know isn't good because it's drying it out. Has anyone ever had this problem? I don't like washing my hair every single day, what should I do? Thanks

Do you blow dry your hair or let it air dry?

Are you sure it's your hair and not your scalp that has the smell?

I air dry it/towel dry it for a few hours and then blowdry it.

I never thought about it being my scalp, I'm really not sure.

Not sure where you live, but your hair may be souring before it is dry. My friend had long thick blond hair and lived in the Miami area, she would wash it in the morning and let it air dry and by the time she got to work due to the heat and humidity her hair would have already soured and smelled awful! Might try not let it air dry as long.
