What might these symptoms point to?

I am 22. I posted a while ago on the anemia forum.. doctor told me my red blood cells are small. I did not read any replies (if there were any), the thread seems to be gone.

Here are my symptoms, I've had these for years.. probably 5-6 years.

Always extremely tired. I can never get enough sleep. I can never concentrate. I sleep for 8 hours, wake up.. after about an hour I start yawing and then I sometimes just go back to sleep or take a nap.

Hair has been falling out since I was 14. I always thought it was heredity.. and it most likely is, but I realized that it's falling out FAST. Does heredital hairloss get triggered at age 13-14?!

I can not sleep on my side. This has not always happened and I remember being able to sleep on my left or right side. Now a days if I stay still or lay on my arms, they start to ache and tingle. Almost like they are falling asleep or no blood is going to that area.

I have a hard time falling asleep. I am always thinking. My brain is always processing something, usually nothing useful. I feel like I have so many things in my head at once. Like I need to explode.

I've been very very easily irritable lately. Lately being for the last 4-5 years.

I work out everyday. It had no affects on the above symptoms. I started taking Accutane a week ago, that doesn't seem to have any affect on the above symptoms either.

I am in shape and I eat healthy. Practically no sugar, no caffeine. I used to have a lot of these and now a days. since I quit eating those, I just feel SLIGHTLY more tired.

Do these sound like anything physical? I know I probably suffer from depression, OCD, etc but recently the doctor told me that my red blood cells are small. He asked me if I had anemia and I - being clueless as to what he was talking about - just gave him a funny look.

A blood test will tell you if you are anemic. That might be all it is. Get your general practioner or Internal Medicine doc or even your ob/gyn to run a blood test.

I am borderline Amemic and take a multi-vitamin that has extra iron. Do you take a multi-viatmin?

No I never tell my doc anything. The only blood test I took was required by my derm to start taking a prescription acne drug (accutane.)

Thanks for the replies, I am going to ask for a blood test next time I go to the doctor.

"No I never tell my doc anything."

Could not help noticing the above statement. I took care of my m-i-l for several years and she would never tell the doctor anything. She insisted it was the doctor's responsibility to tell her what was wrong with her. Hmmmm....I tried to explain to her it is the patient's duty to tell the doctor how they feel, where it hurts, etc. in order for the doc to have a clue where to start. Doctors cannot see thru the patient, cannot feel for them, they need clues.

When you see the doctor be sure and tell them how you have been feeling, what symptoms you are having, etc. If you hurt some place, show them, tell them on a scale of 1-10 how bad it hurts. If you have trouble going to sleep, tell them. If you feel dizzy, tell them. etc. etc.
