Post looking for dr in nc

I have a 57 year old uncle who, until lately, has been very easy to care for. He can walk with some help, and normally is a very "happy camper" Mentally he is maybe 2 and cant express himself well. In the past when he had pain of some sort we could tell be a tapping motion he would do in the area of the pain. Three weeks ago out of the blue he began hitting his head to the point of very bad bursing and even slight lacerations. We had him in the hospital and located an ear infection which is now cleared up but the hitting has not stopped. Untill now we have never had to use phyical restaints, but even with seditives we cannot keep him from hurting himself. The dr's seem clueless. All the scans show nothing. Just medicate him they say.Well the meds are NOT working. Our family is very small and we're running out of energy! His primary caregiver is a 69 year old sister and is not well herself. Does anyone have suggestions for us?
