Question Drugs w/ oxycodone in them?

I'm currently taking Vicodin ES as a BT medication. Either I'm not satisfied w/ the strength 7.5mg's or it's just the hydrocodone itself, but when I take a pill 'as needed' for the BT pains...it's just not cutting it. So, I'm going to ask to switch from the Vicoden to an oxycodone drug. I'm just wondering what drugs I could ask for that JUST have oxycodone in them. Of course it couldn't be oxycontin becuase I need something that's going to work immediatly quick. I could ask for percocet or percodan (not to sure what Oxycodone Terephthalate is - that's in percodan along w/ oxycodone HCL) but I'm fed up w/ Aceta and aspirin. They don't do a thing for me, so I don't even want to ingest them.
I know that there is a liquid form of oxy but not sure if that's reserved for some specific kind of medical condition, like cancer or something. If anyone can help me w/ some names of the oxycodone pills, caps, liquids, etc. I'd be most greatfull. I want to be prepared and specific when I go in for my next PM appt.
Thanks so much... - James

Re: Drugs w/ oxycodone in them?

That help ty RSD. I looked it up on the walgreens website. It's a capsule, when this whole time I was thinking that the oxyIR was a liquid. I only see it coming in 5mg's. I was under the impression that the pure oxycodone tablets, caps, etc. could go up to 15 & 30 millagrams. 15 mg's would be ideal for me honestly. If anyone knows the medicine names that contain the higher end doses (15-30mg) of oxycodone, please let me know. TY again RSD.

Re: Drugs w/ oxycodone in them?

Roxicodone is the name brand 15 and 30 mg oxy tablets but generics hit the markeyt last fall. Oxyfast by purdue is liquid oxy 20mg per ml and not restricted to just cancer, generics are available in this too, Oxydose comes in 5mg per ml and 20 mg per ml. Oxy IR comes in 5mg capsules in the states and 10 and 20 mg tablets in Canada.

Liquid version of Oxy, morphine or Dilaudid will work a little faster. But whatever med you take has to be proportionate to your dose of meth. 120 mgs of meth is equal to about 600 mgs of morphine. IF the BT dose isn't at least 10% of your daily intake, your not going to get the results your expecting. So you need something in the 60 mg of morphine per dose range.MSIR comes in 15mg and 30mg. A 30 mg Roxicodone is equal to about 45 mgs of morphine, 8 mgs of dilaudid is equal to about 60 mgs of morphine but these are huge jumps from Vicodin ES and may take some time for your doc to get to a dose that strong.

Aqtiq is a Fentanyl lolipop and there is nothing stronger, It is aproved for cancer only but some PM docs use them on higher dose patients. My fear is that there is nothing stronger once you reach the highest strength dose of Aqtiq. If your used to sucking on a 1600mic Aqtiq, what could they possibly give you to ease your pain if you broke your arm, leg, or had significant BT pain after you have become accomadated to the strongest med on the market. But there are alot of meds inbetween Vicodin ES and needing something as potent as Aqtiq.

Oxycodone , Dilaudid, Morphine, Oxymorphone "Numorphan" are all available in effective doses, but if your doc isn't comfy prescribing high dose BT meds there isn't much you can do. 120 mgs of meth is a healthy dose and you will need a healthy dose of BT meds to be felt, otherwise it's just one more drop in a large bucket.
Good luck, Dave

Re: Drugs w/ oxycodone in them?

Thanks SO much DAVE! Yeah, you know...when I do take a VicodenES...it's rather like taking a tylenol. I don't notice any difference at all really. I would take 2 or maybe even 3 out of desperation, but I havn't and wouldn't, too much acap. But the thing is, Hydrocodone has never really been that helpfull for me. In the begining YEARS ago it was, but that was short lived. Oxycodone has ALWAYS worked extrememly well for me. So I am going to mention the switch over when I go next week or in 10 days rather. I don't really think my Dr's have a problem in prescribing something that I may suggest, but I'm not SURE if I should right out say....'I was wondering if we can try the Roxicodone 30's instead of the Vic. ES.' - you know...is that way to blunt or should I go dose by dose? Ask to start w/ the 10, then 15, THEN the 30? Either way, I know that an effective dose for REALLY knocking BT pain off it's rocker is going to be a 30mg, but I don't want to seem to 'bold' so to speak. But ty D.
