can anyone tell me how well this medicine works cause i'm scared that i am not going to be around for my children to grow up

It is less efficient than statins at reducing LDL.

On the other hand, it is more effective than statins at reducing Triglycerides.

What were your cholesterol test numbers? If your doctor is suggesting Lopid, I would imagine he's doing that due to high triglycerides.

I was on Lopid for about 5 years, and it gave me about a 15% drop in LDL, and about a 25% drop in triglycerides.

My husband was on Lopid for a few years also, and had no problems, but as soon as they switched him to Lipitor, the problems started. Hopefully it will work well for you and U will have no side effects. Good luck....

thank you all for responding my readings were as follows

triglycerides h 450
cholesterol h209
hdl cholesterol 37

and they didn't do the ldl or vldl due to elevated triglycerides
also does anyone now how to read the rest of this alt (scpt) that was high also and creatinine was low and so was my co2 it was low and glucose was c for critical

i also took the first part of a stress test today and have to go back tommorow for the other part were they are going to inject me with persanitine to raise my heart rate i'm scared about this also because i have been in alot of pain in my chest and down my arm and up my neck so hopefully it won't hurt

that was the worst thing i have ever gone through it felt like my heart was going to explode i never want to do that again
