Post Eczema in 3 yr old

My 3 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with eczema. The Dr. prescribed a cream called Elocon. Has anyone ever used this med and knows anything about its effectiveness or safety?

I can not attest to it's safety but we use on the elderly patients at the nursing home I work at with no noted problems and the elderly are often as sensitive as babies or young children to medications. If you read the literature that came with the cream it will tell about the usage in children under age such and such and what ages were tested etc. If you don't have the literature then read it online at the website.

My three year old daughter has also been diagnosed with Eczema, her doc perscrbed Triamcinolone which has worked like a miracle her skin has been so bad since she was one but over this last summer just got so bad that it looked like scrapes all over her legs. This ointment works so wonderful and for the rest of her body I use cortazone creams that also work well and the best lotion to use is Eucerin. If your daughters skin isnt really that bad then Eucerin should work fine. Also since your daughter is three the cortazone cream wont hurt her so you don't have to worry about that.

My daughter was prescribed the same cream when she was two for eczema on her back, stomach, and behind her legs. I was told to mix it with a body lotion.
However, I also use this cream for eczema on my hands and was told not to use it on my face and was given hydrocortisone in dermabase for this. I was told that elocom cream can break down the skin. I'm not exactly sure what this meant but I wasn't arguing.
Have you tried other remedies? I found Aveeno bath oil to work quite well for the milder spots of eczema on my daughter's back and stomach.

My son is 5 now and he was diagnosed with baby eczema since he was ~4 months old. I have used Elocon on him since ~18 months old. He complains that it burns when I first put it on, then it goes away after a few minutes. I use as least as possible on him and sometimes 1 to 2 times will clear his up.
