Red face Could Infant have tics???

I came across this board and would like some help, if possible...my 8 month old daughter involuntarily shakes her head as if in a "no" fashion several times a day, but usually when tired. I know it's involuntarily because it just doesn't look normal...my husband and i are both concerned...has anyone heard of this or experienced it with their infants??
Thanks,
Jennifer

I would call the doctor as soon as possible. They couldbe mini siezures. She would need to have testing done. I am not trying to scare you but that needs to be taken serious.

Please see my reply to
12 YR OLD STILL HAS TICS
below about 6 posts.
My daughter did what you are describing at about 10 months old. The previous response is correct it could be a seizure, but just a possibly may not be. My best advice is to video tape as many as you can before you see the doctor. It was what actually determined my daughters diagnosis.

Good luck.

Help... my daughter is 8 months old today and has been doing the "head shaking" thing for the last few days and its frequenct is increasing. It is definitely not intentional and is not normal looking.... please someone tell me what I need to do... who do I call... who should she be seen by... what is this? is she ok or is this the beginning of something really scarey???? I am so incredibly worried and sad right now... anyone- please help.

Dear Mom2,

My son would occasionally shudder since birth. Began "staring off" and mumbling around 10 months. Sometimes hand would shake. Local ped. neurologist said "he didn't know" what it was, ped. neurologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester said possible tic disorder. I strongly suggest having an EEG to rule out seizures. If no seizures, you can go from there. I know how you are worrying. Many children outgrow seizures and tics - educate yourself and you will find some relief from your fear. Good luck.
