Side effect of Lortab?

I am awaiting going back to the dentist to have a tooth pulled. He wants me to have a root canal and a bridge but there is no way, too expensive. Even with my insurance the out of pocket expense is $625.
Well anyways he gave me Keflex and antibiotic to kill the infection in my abcessed tooth and Lortab 7.5 mg for my pain. I wake up every night and every morning in serious pain!
Well I am a chicken when it comes to taking prescription meds anyways so I broke a Lortab in half and took it and within half an hour I was shaking all over. Like shivering like I was cold but I wasn't cold or anything.
Is this a side effect anyone else has ever experienced before?

Okiemom: Are you talking about "Loritabs" which are a synthetic form of codene? If so, I had odd side effects from that (from the Loritabs), I didn't shake or get the chills but I was cold all the time and I could hardly breath--turns out I was allergic to them. Read your medicine brochure and see what the symptoms are of a mild allergic reaction. If so, just quit taking them and ask for Darvocet. They have an inexpensive generic form of that, that is what my dentists had to use on me, for when I had a root canal done. Dental issues stink so I feel for you!!!
