Re: acne and pregnant

You can try tea tree oil. It has worked okay, not great, for me, but other pregnant women swear by it. You can get it at health/natural food stores. It is completely safe during pregnancy. Burt's Bees makes an (herbal) acne remedy stick that has been recommended to me, although I haven't used it.

If you feel comfortable using medications during pregnancy, you can ask your doctor for a prescription for Cleocin, which is supposed to be safe during pregnancy. Some doctors will also let you use over-the-counter products that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, although benzoyl peroxide is a class C drug during pregnancy (which means it is not known whether it causes birth defects or not). Some people say ProActive works well during pregnancy.

Proactive has BP in it. I have been using Neutrogenia Solutions since Friday. I hope it is not a problem. Will the acne reduce when my hormones level out more. I am only 6 weeks along. I have tries Tea Tree Oil without much success.

what you could do is use tamanu oil for the existing acne-it's perfectly safe, it's natural but please stay away from any prescription drugs I don't care if they say they're safe or not, and watch your diet to stop breaking out. Like for starters get rid of sugar from your diet and dairy except plain yogurt, kefir or even goats milk yogurt- you can get it at a health store. Changing my diet cleared my skin, I think it will work for you too. There's nothing worse than trying to do your makeup while you're getting contractions trust me, been there done that, eat lots of cantaloupe, blueberries, rasberries, apples, brazil nuts, salmon although with fish you probably want to eat that once a week cause of the mercury. Well I hope that helps good luck
