Question Drooping of Left Lower Eyelid Following a Blepharoplasty

I had an "open" browlift along with an upper and lower Blepharoplasty on both eyes almost ten weeks ago (June 1, 2001). Several weeks ago I started to notice my left lower eyelid was drooping to the point where my left eye appeared to be larger than my right eye. Aesthetically this was unacceptable to me. According to my PS this is a relatively minor complication and is not a case of ectropion. He said that taping the eyelid may cause the problem to resolve on it’s own but if it doesn’t I may need to have corrective surgery. For the last two weeks I have been taping the eyelid to hold it in place. When I remove the tape it does appear to be improving. I am supposed to continue wearing this tape for another three weeks (end of August). At that time my PS will decide whether or not corrective surgery will be necessary. Has anyone ever had this complication from Blepharoplasty? If so, did taping the lower lid cause the problem to resolve? If taping didn’t work did corrective surgery solve the problem?

I have almost the same problem as you but my right eyelip droops down. If you find out any information about this or a way to fix it please write back. It doesnt droop b/c of surgury, but it sounds like wehave amot the same problem.

My problem seems to have resolved itself. The taping apparently worked. I also was exercising the muscles around my eyes by closing my eyes and squeezing a number of times daily. I don't know that tape or exercising will help you since you haven't had surgery. Do you know why your eyelid is drooping? A possible solution to your problem could be surgery but I would be very careful if I were you. Eyelid surgery is very complex and delicate. Make sure you research it and get several opinions before proceeding with such surgery.
