Talking Wow! 111/68!

Well, since I have "white coat hypertension" whenever I take my BP at home these days, I decided to try something out: I told my wife to start taking my BP daily and frequently and to not tell me the numbers. I figured that the mere anxiety from taking the readings themselves was causing my numbers to be high and, to make things worse, focusing on the numbers contributed to the anxiety even more. So, after several readings in a day, it got so frequent that it got comfortable and I didn't care about it after a while. She took many readings yesterday and today she had to tell me what they were as they were really good: about half where in the low =>120/80 range while the other half were in the <120/80 range. The lowest reading was 111/68!

So, this is just more proof that I cause my BP to spike and don't have a high BP problem per se! Once I got desensitized to taking the readings, my anxiety went down and, hence, so did my BP.

That's awesome MG - I have the same issue - when I go to the docs my readings are ridiculous - the doc called it suggestable bp - cuz my #'s at home - once I got used to taking them - they are now anywhere from 106/66 - 120/78. It's so weird, because if I start thinking about it - I can make it go up - The brain really does control the body

I wonder what would happen if you started telling yourself that you have great low BP.

Wow, you've got the exact same issue I have! Good to hear your numbers are optimal. I won't take my own BP anymore. I let my wife do it and she will let me know if I need to seek medical attention or not. Using this method has had a significant impact on the my readings = much, much lower!

They would probably go even lower. The mind, especially mine, has a great influence on BP.
