Question CO2 Laser

I had a CO2 Laser surgery done to remove acne scares on my face. Although my doctor says there is a major improvment in the shape of these scares, I do not see much improvments. I was wondering if any one else has done this procedure and what there experience has been?

Is it necessary to perform this procedure several times to remove even not too deep scars, or my doctor has not done a good job?

Please advice,
Thanks

I had Laser Co2 as well, and it was not for my acne scars, it was to tighten up my skin which it did. I have read in many places the Co2 is not recommended for acne scars it has to go deeper to smooth it out and sometimes the scars go to deep even for the laser. There are other procedures out there that fill in the scars and raise the tissue to even out the skin. I wish I could help you more, I just don't have a lot of information on that area. Also for a PS in Washington, go to ASPS and fill in your Area. Also remember, just because a PS is Board certified doesn't mean he is an expert in a certain area, look at photos and speak to former patients. C

Question

Hi,

Thanks for your replay. I have read at many places that CO2 laser is used to treat acne scars! Even the doctor who treated me suggested this procedure! Most of my acne scares are not too deep and I was very surprised to see that the CO2 laser did not remove them!!

You have mentioned other procedures for removal of acne scars. Do you know the name of these procedures by any chance? Also do you know if these procedures are needed to be performed after every few months or are they permenent solutions?

Thanks for your advice.

Cool

What was the recovery like after CO2 laser? How long did you have to isolate yourself out of sight? Were the after-effects painful, uncomfortable or easy to cope with? Does CO2 laser get rid of fine lines around the lips and those vertical lines at the end of the mouth?
