Re: Lipitor

PBY,

Welcome to HealthBoards. You'll find lots of support here.

Go to WebMD.com, or to diagKNOWsis.org and find their drug search tools. You can input the names of each of the drugs and find out what they side-effects or interaction problems can be. That might give you more information.

Or -- I have no idea what your instructions are for taking the drugs, but if it's possible to skip a few days with the new drug, and see what happens to your symtoms, it would be a way of gaining more knowledge. Don't skip any doses unless you get permission from the doctor first.

You might also try posting to the drug interactions board, or the stroke or heart disease boards, where people may have experience with your particular drugs.

Good luck -- keep us posted.

Re: Lipitor

Two of my freinds have had supposed leg problems [weakness and some pain] while being on Lipitor.I noticed they both were on 20mg or more strength doses and both of them 65+ in age.
I am also on Lipitor 66years old and only on 10mg for about one year now and dont seem to have as much problems as they have claimed and am going to ask the doctor if this is a big problem with the statin drugs. The positive about this drug is all users usually really bring their cholesterol and lipid numbers down considerably very fast. I went from 227 to 135 in about one month and my two freinds had similar results so I have to be happy with that and will contiue unless i have similar symptoms of leg problems. They say if you do have problems to tell your doctor. You also have to take periodic blood tests to see how your kidneys react to the statin drugs. Good Luck.

Re: Lipitor

You may want to look at the High Chorlesterol board. There is always an ongoing discussion on statin drugs and their side effects. Some people have had the leg pains you mention (my husband) and others use them with no problems.

Re: Lipitor

Statin danger would be a good search engine start. Most doctors are clueless about statin drugs. As a class they produce Co Q10 deficiency which may be the reason for muscle fatigue, cognitive impairment and even congestive heart failure. Canada has a black box warning about CoQ10 but the US FDA has again bowed to big Pharma and provides no warning thus your local doctor doesn't get this vital information. BTW there is no study that shows statin drugs increase lifespan so why take them?
