Day 13 when will I sleep?

I was on oxy about a year for back pain and started chewing, sometimes snorting 110mg/day. I quit ct 13 days ago. I thank everyone that posted on this board and dont think I would have made it if I didnt have this forum to help me thru this. I am a 50 yo with a great family and had plenty of support at home. The first week was rough and if I had to do it over again I would go to rehab, but after about day 8 things got much better. Now the days are fine and staying busy all day really helps.
Nitetime is a different story, as soon as I try to relax the nerves start to go crazy and I cant sit or lye still. I can only sleep about 1 or 2 hours a nite. I took a xanax the other nite and got 4 hours. Lastnite I took a double dose of melitonine and fell asleep at 8:00 and wokeup at 11:00 pm, so I took another double dose and have been awake ever since, its now 4:45am.
Is there any sleep aid that works that is not addictive or is this just something that needs time?

"Ti-i-i-i-i-me is on my side, yes it is." I think that this sort of thing just takes time, for me it was several months. I am 9 months clean&sober and still have aproblem sleeping every now and then. Comparatively though it is 95% better. It's wonderful to have a natural sleep and wake up clear headed. I love having "real" dreams again.

Hang in there you are doing great.

Take care,
Patty

Re: Day 13 when will I sleep?

I had the exact same problem. I had about 2-3 weeks of sleep problems. The one thing I learned that I will pass on is the embrace the "no sleep" phase. What I mean is to not try and force the issue with "yet another" pill, but when you feel tired, sleep, when you dont exercise or read or work on computer etc. This may sound crazy, but I still cant believe that I am on day 40 and I have had a handfull of nights that I have gone to sleep without the aid of any drugs. Natural sleep? I NEVER thought that could happen, but it does. So hang in there. I worked through the hard part you are in right now, I just went out to my car, put the a/c on and set my watch for 1/2 hour then took a cat nap. When I got home, would force myself to stay up until I was dead tired, then to avoid the "sitting in bed looking at the ceiling" I would read with a book night light. If I would wake up in the middle of the night, I would either read again, or get up and switch to the couch or another bed. Good luck and remember, read the posts, there is SLEEP at the end of the tunnel and you are VERY CLOSE. DO NOT give in. One pill will screw the whole process up, TRUST ME>

Re: Day 13 when will I sleep?

Hi there!

I'm on day 27 and my sleep habits are still a little screwy. Sometimes during the day (at work), I just can't keep my eyes open. Or when I'm at home in the early evening, trying to do my everyday nightly mom stuff...I'm just exhausted! Then when it's bedtime, sometimes I cannot fall asleep. There's just no rhyme or reason to it. I haven't taken any sleep aid for it (not even over the counter stuff). I'm sure that's not what you want to hear, but I think it's different for everyone.

Just know...that with every passing day, it WILL get better!

Time honey time! Hot baths for long period of time helped me get through untill sleep actually came. You are not used to not having that drug in you putting you in sleep mode. You will get there just be patient.
