Post Low carb foods

Hi everyone!!!

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck finding low-carb foods in stores (health foods stores, etc). I have been low-carbing it for about a month and a half and it's going very well. I am very stringent during the week, but during the weekend, I allow myself some pasta, rice, etc. However, I would like to incorporate the low-carb versions of these foods to continue low-carb eating on the weekends.

Problem is...I've found plenty to choose from on-line, but the food is so expensive already and we're on a tight budget, so the shipping and handling charges make it too outrageous.

Has anyone had any luck??? Or is on-line my only option??

Thanks in advance!

I lo-carb without buying any specialty items...you can do it without that unless your heart is set on pasta and rice and even then just incorporate it into your diet...If you are unsure on some foods then look up carbohydrate counters or carbo calculators on the web and you should find some helpful suggestions...
might even find a recipe to make your own pasta.

Ok, there is actually a site out there for low carb that charges no shipping no matter what you buy. I can't tell you thename, cause we are not allowed, but put low carb free shipping into your search engine and you may find it. You might have to weed out alot of places that say free shipping, because alot say free, but then you have to buy a certain amount of food. The actual real deal is in there though so try and find it. Let me know if you do. if you can't, i can try to be more specific about what to put in the search engine.

Actually, yeah, if you are not opposed to making your own pasta, what you can do is go find a recipe that you like, and exchange half of the flour in it with protein powder (whey, unflavored)

you can do this with pretty much any recipe (well, within reason) Replace half of the flower in pancakes with vanilla protein powder (or plain) throw in a bit of cinnamon...tastes great.

I sometimes do this with oatmeal raisin cookies, using a little apple sauce instead of all that butter. Good snack, though not ultra low carbo...but high in fiber.

Athough I havent found any pastas, I have found low carb "tortillas" and even low carb chips at grocery stores before. And one thing that a lot of people don't know about, is that most grocery stores hire people to _get_ specialty items for their customers. They would rather keep your business and make a little profit than have you go somewhere else. Just try asking. It can't possibly hurt!
