a certain percentage of people say that diet soda kicks them out of ketosis, but it is a very small percent. I have never had a problem with diet soda, but your results may vary. Try it out, and see if your ketostix show any difference..

Are you really "gonna try" or are you just teasing yourself? Please, be honest with yourself about how committed you are to this diet. I promise, as one who is a successful user of the low carb lifestyle, it will work but it can only work if you are committed to it as a lifestyle of eating. I'm admonishing you to consider this lifestyle as a reality--once you lose the weight, you cannot stop dieting. if you believe you can do the induction plan for the 2 weeks, lose several pounds, and then start sneaking in more carbs thereafter, you will undermine the good effects of eating low carb.

Keep in mind, ANY diet has to become a lifestyle. Even Weight Watchers, which I thoroughly respect, has to become a lifestyle. (It just wasn't one I could commit to faithfully.)

If you learn nothing else out studying and following a low carb diet plan, learn that all diet successes are measured by the individual commitment one makes to a lifetime of change in one's eating. That's the real ugly truth about losing weight AND KEEPING IT OFF!

As for the question about diet sodas. More bad news, but consider the information: aspartame should be avoided because it has the effect of "revving up" the body like speed does. The response is to increase the hunger drive. One also can experience this sensation drinking caffeinated drinks.

Aspartame is a manmade compound created by the Monsanto Corporation (they make all sorts of chemicals to enhance agricultural output and kill bugs). A lot of big bucks went into making this stuff to replace saccharin. Therefore, a lot of bigger bucks has gone into making sure all soda manufacturers use it in their drinks.

Now, I will admit I am an avid coffee drinker, so I offer you this suggestion for your consideration, only: drink Diet Rite sodas because they have Sunette brand sweetener. It is a natural sweetener, I believe derived from the stevia extract. I do drink these sodas, but I drink my coffee, too. I just won't drink both because I'll be eating everything that's not nailed down. Also, in my coffee, I do not use Equal or saccharin, but stevia extract powder. So I'm not altogether "pure," I do try to put my system into low gear, LOL!

Also, DRINK, DRINK, DRINK your 64 ozs. of water a day. If you must give your money to keep aspartame in our sodas, wash it out with water.

Regards and the best low carbing success to you! pat
