Extreme reaction to Coffee

I never usually drink coffee, let alone large amounts. Yesterday I ordered a large Mocha (half coffee, half choc) and drank the whole thing. For the next 8/9 hours I was wired, sweating profusely, unable to concentrate on tasks, my brain was working overtime. I felt physically uncomfortable, a little like the last throws of a stimulating drug (comedown-esque). Later on, 9 hours after the coffee I felt violently sick to the point where i almost vomited after playing a computer game.

I've had coffee before but not in the same size cup ever. My reactions have been similar but in no way as extreme.

It's obvious I shouldn't drink it at all but i'm really curious If anyone else reacts similarly, or if I have a minor condition that makes me react in this way.

thanks!

Re: Extreme reaction to Coffee

hi fullcollapse--i have the same reaction to coffee. regular gives me horrible shakes all day after drinking one cup. decaf tears my stomach up. don't drink soda at all. yet i can drink several cups of tea a day with no reaction. if i drink a lot of tea after work( i am home by 2:30) so it's not late but if i drink more than 2 cups i won't sleep well that night and be very wired. some of us are just very sensitive to caffeine. i am also sensitive to many drugs. if there is a bad side effect i will have it.

Re: Extreme reaction to Coffee

I can't drink coffee at all. The most caffeine I can drink is part of a cola or some black tea. Some people are just highly sensitive to caffeine. It is a stimulant and similar to a drug. I say similar to a drug because I get more wired from caffeine then I did from coke a few years ago when I did it a few times. The chocolate and sugar probably helped kick in the coffee quite a bit.
