Lump at bottom of right ear what is it?

I have a lump right where my earlobe meets my cheek.. The lump is painful from the back of my ear to the front of my cheek. It is growing every day. It only hurts to be touched no throbbing sensation otherwise. Can anyone tell me if this is important. My husband is in the Navy and it takes for ever to get an appointment.. I would hate to make one and have him say its no big deal.

Well it could be something like a litllle pimple or boil but not being able to look at it makes it difficult. The reason I think about a small infection is that it hurts when pushed on but not otherwise. Do you have any other signs of infection besides swelling and tenderness? Is it red, can you see a whitehead or has any drainage came out? I would put warm compresses on it for 20 minutes 4 times a day to try and bring it to a head while you are waiting for a naval appointment in case it doesnt go away in a few days. You may need to get it lanced or put on some Keflex or some other antibiotic.

It is painful.. no redness. It is like a marble under the skin. I have had a cough for a month.. and I have been running a low grade (100 degree) fever all day today.

Well if its as big as a marble then maybe better make that doctor appt. Monday for as soon as possible. If it continues to grow you might have to go to urgent care or the ER if the appointment is too far off. I would get a very warm towel and lay it over the lump 4 times a day still. Could you take your temp every morning and evening and go to the urgent care if it gets over 102 degrees? I would like to know how this turns out if you could keep in touch? Are you taking any meds or herbs, health foods? Have you had or do you now have any other diseases?
