Side effects with Nasonex/nasal steroid sprays

Hi All,
I would appreciate any replies about my question below. I have read the recent posts about long term use of steroid nassal sprays but this is a very short term problem.

I started using Nasonex on Wednesday to try to clear a stuffy, congested nose after severe PND. From Thursday I started feeling bad and it has got worse during the few days - feeling really weak and lethargic, no energy and not up to doing much at all. I feel shivery and hot/cold, achy, headache, like Im getting a cold.

It just seems so coincidental that this started right after I started using the nasal spray. Is it possible that the spray has got things moving but now my body is fighting whatever is coming out of my sinuses, or is this a side effect of the nasal spray?

If anyone knows about these sprays and whether I should continue to use it please let me know

Thanks
Tesss

That would be my guess. You've got gunk up there that is finally moving, and your body is trying to fight it. When I first started using Flonase, my doctor warned me it might get worse before it got better. If the symptoms continue you might have an infection lurking up there.

Re: Side effects with Nasonex/nasal steroid sprays

Hi Sneezydiva,
Thanks for the reply and the clarification. The PND has totally stopped but I still feel bad- major aches and hot /cold and fatigue. The dr said to stop taking it and go back if I see coloured gunk which l am not. I guess I am just concerned that the Nasonex is hindering me fighting this in some way but it cant do that can it? I dont really seem to be getting better.
Hope you are okay and things are good for you. Glad to hear your test results were positive.
Best wishes
Tesss

I don't think it can lower your immunity or anything like that. Maybe you caught a bug and the whole thing is just a weird coincidence?

Re: Side effects with Nasonex/nasal steroid sprays

I have recently been in hospital and the dr did say that I may have picked up a bug there so l guess that is what it is.
Thanks, I just needed some reassurance that it was nothing to do with the nasonex from someone who knows more about this.
Cheers.
