Headache in a 13 yo...plz help!

My son is 13 years old. 25 days ago he had a headache that never went away. It seemed to get more severe as time went on. He hasn't had a pain free day in 3 1/2 weeks. He has been to the doctor, had a CT, an MRI and blood tests that have all been clear. He has been to the eye doctor, chiropractor dentist/oral surgeon. We have had him stay at his grandparents for a couplke days in case it was something in our house. He has taken sudafed, zyrtec, migraine medicine..both OTC and prescription. We have tried accupuncture. We have talked to his friends, teachers and conselor at school. No one seems to think there are any problems there. He has missed almost 3 weeks of school.

His only symptom is a headache. He is taking darvocet right now but it just takes the edge off. The only time he was pain free was when they gave him a shot of morphine in the hospital. Please help me if you have any ideas. We are desperate to help him get better.

where is the headache located?
What type of pain is it?
How did it start?

These questions will give people more insight into the problem

Re: Headache in a 13 yo...plz help!

My son had a daily headache at 9 years old. He developed it after having strep. We saw a neurologist and he said he would see these kind of cases about six times year. He told us most medications don't even touch it. I am sorry to say my son's lasted six months and then finally burned itself out. Meaning it slowly got less painful until it was completely gone. He missed school this entire time. It was the hardest thing we ever went through as it is very hard to see your child in pain every minute of every day.

I forgot about this. I gave him a pain relief medicine from natra-bio. Besides other pain it was for headaches. It is homeopathic. It seems after about a week of this is when it really seem to burn itself out. I remember I even when back to the neurologist and told him about the tablets I was so impressed.

Lynn...it has been 5 weeks now and still no relief. I cry everyday watching him. The neuro has him on meds that dope him up. He is not the bright witty child we used to know. We are going to try the University of Minnesota next. How did they diagnose it? He has seen a neurologist who said it is a migraine transformation...or chronic daily headache. I don't recall him being sick before it started. I don't know what to do or think anymore...
