Talking I need serious information everyone-help

Hello everyone: Okay, here is my problem. I was on the Milnacipran and it worked wonders for me, I was now normal again. My problem now is, the Mil did not arrive on time and I was without for 2 weeks. It has since arrived and I am taking 200mg but this has been 5 weeks with no relief at all. As you all know, pain killers only work for a short time and I have been on them all. Has anyone had this experience? If so, will you please post for me. I will be eternally grateful. For all of you who are on it I am very happy for you. Thanks everyone, for a response.

Hi Sweetie:
Oh owwww! I really feel for you. I've had the same experience with pain killers. They work for a season, then your body gets accustomed to the meds. I'm not sure about Milnacipran, however, but I have experienced this effectiveness fading with other pain meds.

Be blest,
Kristin

It's been 5 weeks since you have been BACK on the Mil?

If that's the case, I'm not sure what to tell you. I know that when I am without my meds, for even a day or two, it take me a little more than twice as long as I was off them for them to start working normally again. Actually the last time I was off for 9 days because of a mix up with the drug company, my doc increased my dose to 1.8 times what it had been, and them we weaned me back down to the normal dose. This worked great!, but I don't know if your doc would consider doing it or not.

So for example... (and I'll use easy numbers here) If I was on 20 mgs of something, he increased it to 36 mgs for a full week to get me back on track, them we slowly weaned back down to 20 mgs (that took about another two weeks). This was the only way I was going to be able to function in the weeks after the screw up.

If you can't get your dr. to consider this, ask if you can increase your BT meds for this next month and see if you can't get things back under control that way.

I find that when my pain gets that far out of control... it takes quite a bit more than the 'normal dose' I was on in order to get control back, but then I can return to the regular regimen once I have regained that control.

Hope that helps,
--

Stillgoin,

I want to say thank you for bringing to my attention this medication Milnacipran. I had never heard of it. Studies were done specifically targeting Fibro and they had pretty good results.

From what I could tell this is not an opiod or ANSAID, it is an anti-depressant that had a lot of pain control qualities. Am I wrong abou this. Stillgoin, how long have you been taking it?

Thanks for the info.

Peace and love, Hangin
