sick again! Not even 24 hours of feeling good and then wham!

Well I had an upper respetiory infection that took two rounds of zithromax to get rid of. I went back on Friday for a recheck and my dr said that everything cleared up aside from swollen glands. She told me to take advil every 3 hours to clear up the inflamation.

All of my family had a cold over the Thanksgiving holiday and now I'm afraid that I have caught it. My throat hurts, my nose is running, etc.. classic cold symptoms, but my ears hurt too (which were red when I saw my dr last week). Normally I wouldn't worry too much about having it clear up really fast (well I mean I would want it to, but not as much as I NEED it to right now) I am flying to Las Vegas next week. My dr told me to go back if I did not feel any better, but the thing was I was feeling better, but now I have this darn cold.. should I go back to the dr again to see if it is something that needs to be taken care of so I'm not sick for my trip? I would hate to fly with an ear infection, as well as be sick there!

If you are flying next week and are feeling worse tomorrow then by all means go to the doctor. You do not, I repeat, DO NOT want to fly with ear problems of any kind. It is a pain the likes of which you have never known and can cause all kinds of problems. I know....oh yeah, I know.

I'm sorry to hear about your flying with ear problems.. but thanks for the advice. I feel like I'm a regular at the dr's office lately, I've been there 3 times in the past 2 weeks. LOL

I think I might go back tomorrow if not Tuesday because my glands are even more swollen and they are killing me.

I also forgot to mention that I've been having a hard time with insomnia lately so I don't really have any rest to let my body get better. I emailed my doc and asked her if she could shoot me with a tranquilizer gun lol

Hah! As long as you don't have a problem with addiction a sleep aid might not be a bad thing.

Please do go to the doctor. We are into the flu season and you really need to get a handle on this so you can successfully weather the cold months.

Be better. Let me know how you are.

Re: sick again! Not even 24 hours of feeling good and then wham!

The funny thing is: I am on sleep aids.. 15 mg of Ambien and I'm still awake 3 hours later! I don't know where to go from here on out.

I didn't get a flu shot this year, because honestly, I've never had the flu and don't see the reason of getting a shot when someone else could use it. I get sick really easily though, but it never seems really serious. I've only been hospitalized once due to anxiety and my temp never reaches above 100.

It's like a cycle, I have anxiety about being sick, and going on vacation, then I have anxiety about going to the doctor's too much and having them think I'm a crazy lady that thinks she has to go to the dr at the sign of any sniffle.

But like I said, I went to the dr's 3 weeks ago, was diagnosed with 'one of the worst' sinus infections my dr had ever seen, then I went back to my other doctor (I see both of them, they're in the same facility) and she looked in my ear and my throat and both were red and swollen. I also had some wheezing in my lung and a low grade temp. I went back on Friday, like I said, and she said that my ear, lungs and throat looked fine, but my glands were still swollen. I think my glands are more swollen now than they were before because they're about the size of bouncy balls and they feel very much like bouncy balls and painful.
