Swallowing too painfull - Have bacterial tonsilitis

Am hoping I can get some advice here.
I've been diagnosed with 'Bacterial Tonsilitis' and have been given antibiotics and ibuprofen tables. I've been instruction to take 3 of each daily, but I am still having problems.

The pain of swallowing any food or drink ( or even with an empty mouth ) is too great and so painfull, I'm also feeling very cold most of the time and haven't been able to eat, living off tea, milk with honey and so on for the last few days.

Anyone able to recommend things I can do to soothe the pain or speed up recovery?

( I only got the medication 24 hours ago, but it seems to be getting worse, couldn't sleep at all last night. )

It takes 24 hrs. for antibiotics to start working. Have you tried gargling with warm salt water?

What is the name of antibiotic you are taking?

It's amoxicillin and have just woken up after 48 hours and the pain seems worse then ever ...

Riley, sorry you're going through such pain. Just keep giving the meds time like I'm doing, I too am having a pain on my right throat side, I don't know why lol it's all started from anxiety though. Ah... keep us posted please.
