Question Menopause And Ra

When I First Got Ra About 15 Yrs Ago It Hit Hard Then Went Away With Just Mild Pain. Now In My 50's And In Post-menopause I Am Feeling Worse. Pain 90% Of The Time Doesnt Want To Let Up. Trying Physical Therapy Thats Not Helping. I Dont Want Stronger Drugs. Does Anyone Have Any Help On This, And Has Anyone Gone Thru This During That Part Of Their Life. Its Christmas Time And I Am So Depressed Because Trying To Get Out And Going Shopping Or Just Doing The Things That Have To Get Done Leave Me Exhausted And In Pain.

Re: Menopause And Ra

I think you'll have to take the drugs.. I was in the same position and they helped.

Good Luck

Re: Menopause And Ra

I can relate about not wanting to take the stronger drugs. You just have to get to be more afraid of the disease than the drugs. I am seeing a new Rheumatologist and he gave me information on Arava, Cellcept, Cyclosporin and Imuran. He said they were scary and had bad side effects BUT the alternative was a cane, walker and eventually wheelchair. I believe I'll try the drugs!
