Unhappy allergy to adrenaline, please help

Hi all, I am new to this but need help. I have always had problems with taking any kind of medication. But have recently been told that I may have a problem with adrenaline. I had panic attacks when younger and alaways put this down to anxiety, now it seems that I have a possible allergy to adrenaline and this is the cause. I have never been a good sleeper as I have problems just as I fall asleep, I have been refused surgery due to this and now can not even get dental treatment.

This has been the case for 6 years, but it is only now that a dentist not my doc has told me I have a problem with adrenaline. Anyway I could really do with some advice, Is this possible? How do I deal with this? And what can I do about it. As I have problems with meds, this does worry.
Thank you ne1 who can help. P.S> A surgeon at the hospital also refused to operate a second time on a shoulder injury as he said the risk was too great. As I had problems with the first op. Again, he did not tell me what.

Re: Adrenaline

I have never heard of an adreneline allergy, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Perhaps you are producing too much or too little adreneline? I would ask the surgeon exactly what the complecation was from your surgery, and see about getting your adrenal gland function tested to see if it is normal.

Re: Adrenaline

Hi belgy, Are you sure the medical people didn't say epinephrine instead of adrenalin? Seems very strange that you would react to something produced by your body while epinephrine is a drug that is in local anesthetics and used when there is a problem with anesthesia to try to"shock" the system back to normal.
I also have developed a problem with medication reactions and have traced it back to some inert ingredients found in almost everything. The place to start is to look at everything you have reacted to,then look at chemical ingredients & try to find a common ingredient or related ingredient in what you react to. Usually one reacts to related chemicals. Also there are some drugs out there that can cause reactions to meds which you haven't previously reacted to - I briefly experienced an anti-anxiety drug that caused me to react to Every drug that I came in contact with for 2 months after I discontinued it.(I only took 3 doses) I found out the hard way that this is a very complicated situation. Let me know if I may be of any further help to you.
Take Care.

Re: Adrenaline

Thank you for your comments Sneezydiva and pj59. I spoke to my doc yesterday and the problem came in the op when they gave me a muscle relaxant. My heart rate soared and so they gave me adrenaline to counteract the problem. From what the doc says this made things worse and it took 2 hours to stabilise my heart. He is sending me for further test but did say he also believes it is adrenaline related. On the meds side, the only drug I do not react to is paracetomol. Thanks for your posts.

Re: Adrenaline

Hi PJ59,

I was just wondering what the anti-anxiety medication was - if that not intrusive? It's just, I've been on propranolol (beta-blockers) for anxiety for two years, and all of a sudden I am convinced it giving me problems with the foods I eat. But the doctors don't take me seriously, I imagine because I have anxiety problems!

Best wishes,
Leon.
