Still Fighting

Well it has been about one month since I started to taper off my use of Fioricet (which contains a barbiturate). I have managed to go from about 20 pills per day to 9, but it has been hell!

Like so many other people who post here about their w/d problems; can't sleep, anxious, depressed, and the migraines!

Today is a particularily bad day, but I'm hangin' tough. Any words of encouragement from you folks would be much appreciated, especially if you have gone through a barbiturate w/d.

Thanks, T51

Re: Still Fighting

Dear Twang,

I'm the mother of an addict, so I can't empathize with your withdrawls but I did see my son from time to time (when he was in rehab) going through some pretty nasty physical stuff. Once that was over, he started to feel SO much better, and YOU will too!

Let me just say that I so admire your efforts in doing this. As I mentioned to another poster, seeing folks like you trying so hard to get clean is so very heartening to a mom like me. In a way, you could look at these physical symptoms as a good sign that your body is trying to heal, and it sort of shows how much your body was really altered by the chemicals before. I'm so glad to hear that you're 'hanging tough' on this one.

Imagine, you've cut your usage in HALF! That is wonderful! You definitely have my prayers and support that you can get through this one day at a time, or even one minute at a time if you have to.

Please keep us posted and know that you have a ton of support behind you, every step of the way.

Big hugs and prayers for your strength,
Nellie
