9 months later

Hi everyone! I just wanted to drop by and give you all an update. If any of you remember me, I was on this website like EVERY day for probably a year. I had moderate acne that was very persistent. From my eighth grade year to half way through my sophomore year, I don't think I went a single day without at least 5 pimples on my face. I tried everything from benzaclin to oral antibiotics. Nothing helped. My skin is really sensitive, so everything would just make my skin more irritated and I would continue to break out. After visiting several dermatologists, I was finally given the opportunity to take Accutane. After one month, my face was clear! For the remainder of my Accutane treatment, my face stayed clear. After I completed the treatment, my face looked amazing for 3 months. I never had a single blemish on my skin! At the start of my fourth month of being off Accutane, I started to break out here and there, but nothing serious. Well, now it's been 9 months and I still only get minor break outs. My skin is amazing, thanks to Accutane! So if anyone has questions about Accutane or just in general, I would be glad to answer!

Hi, i've been on accutane for month and 1 week and i haven't had a breakout yet. My skin is pretty much clear... about three activ cystic acne on the edge of my forehead.. nothing serious.. R u m or f? What dosage did you get? and how much do you weigh? lol sorry about the many questions..! I'm 5'4 and 95 lbs and on a 60mgs a day.. i thought being on a high dose will bring a very bad breakout.. but i haven't got one.. and hopefully i don't get one.. i'm getting worried as i thought that is the normal way of accutane (major breakout). My skin is like not dry dry.. just normal.. my face looks so smooth and looks like its glowing.. i juss hope i don't breakout in a couple of weeks or months after... -.-

Hey! To answer your questions: I am a female and I was taking 40 mgs a day. To be honest with you, I didn't have an initial break out either. I don't think you'll get a bad break out now if you haven't already! My skin started looking really good right away. I'm 5'2 and I weigh about 90 pounds. So for me, 40 mgs was a pretty high dose. At first, my skin wasn't too dry either. But, during the last couple months my skin was so incredibly dry. It was terrible! My skin was flaky and disgusting. It really was alright though because my skin looked amazing after the treatment. Anyways, I really hope this helped, and you're welcome to ask more questions if you have them!

Hi, thanks for your reply!

Well i'm on a very high dose too, do you think maybe because we're on such a high dose we didn't get an initial breakout?? lol..& maybe worked alot faster than others mmmm.. Did you get like couple active ones when it was the start of your periods? Also my periods have been like absent for 2 months and finally came 3 days ago (but its like really light periods) and i got a couple active ones.. did you have any problems in your menstruation cycle?

Also did you wear make up while on accutane and after aswell? like mineral powder foundation - non comedogenic etc..

Well, to answer your question about being on a high dose, I honestly don't know if that played a role in me not getting an initial break out. But, you never know. Oh, and yes I did get a couple active pimples at the start of my period, and I still do even after the treatment. My periods were irregular too. I think that's a normal side effect. I did wear make up also. I used Clinique. It's non comedogenic, and it's awesome. To be more specific, I used Clinique Oil-free pressed powder. It gives very light coverage, but it makes your face look fresh and clean. Well, I think that's it. I really hope I'm helping you out through your Accutane treatment. I know it can be rough.
