do diabetes meds make it harder to lose weight?

I don't have an answer....but was wondering the same thing. I'm not losing that fast. Anyone have any answers for this?

Hi PhyllisAnn,
I know what you mean. I'm 28 years old and having a hard time. Been diabetic for about six years now. It's so hard to lose it. I have been working on my treadmill 3-4 times a week and eating less/better for about 4 weeks now and have gained weight. My doctor put me on metphormin and said it would help me lose also, but don't see anything yet!! Very frustrating.

I cannot speak to the amaryl situation. I do know that when I started taking metformin I was 251 pounds and just something like 9 months I was 181. I tell people that I did not loose weight as much as I just deflated.

Weight loss goes along with metformin - It should take a little while, but it will come off if metformin lives up to its reputation. Of course, just like everything else there are other things to consider like other medications, how much you do eat and where your blood glucose levels stay.
