Environmental Allergies? What's This?

I had allergies testing recently, and I am not allergies to dust, dust mites or molds as I thought. The specialist said that I had environmental allergies.

Can someone explain what this means? I know that I can not wear any cologne or walk through those department store areas where they are spraying it.

I think your specialist was pretty vague in saying you had environmental allergies because that encompasses a lot of territory. (Especially outside!) If you want to get technical, dust mites, and mold are in fact environmental. What kind of testing did you have, and did they test for trees, grasses and weeds as well? I am a person who has MANY food and environmental allergies and included in that indoor/outdoor environmental list are: dog, cat, dust mite, mold, just about every grass and tree pollen, and also ragweed.

So see what I mean by your specialists term being rather vague?

I was tested for dust, dust mites, mold and a few others on the grid. None showed up positive.

I am on day 2 of being back on my Beconase (after 1 year off) and it's seeming to help. I think that nasal inflammation is my problem.

What kind of allergy test was performed on you? I went to see a doctor a few years ago to find out if I was allergic to anything, they did that test where they put different kind of allergens on a strip with a bunch of fine needles and they press it against your skin; well I did not react to that one at all and the doctor sent me home but I was not satisfied with the result and decided to visit another doctor who performed a different test, she used syringes to go a little deeper to inject the allergen and BINGO, I reacted big time to that one. I agree with Anjjou72, you specialist was pretty vague you should consider a second opinion.

Thank you. I had the bunch of fine needle test done by the best ENT center in Charlotte, NC.

Since I am getting some relief from restarting Beconase AQ Spray yesterday, I will see how it goes. If I recall correctly, I have been having problems (massive post nasal drip, etc.) ever since I stop taking it at the beginning of last year.
