Swelling from Norvasc???

I started on a low dose of norvasc about a month ago. I was on atenolol for my hbp, but when I was diagnosed with Raynaud's my dr changed me to norvasc. It didnt seem to help the raynaud's any so she doubled the dose. About a week and a half later I noticed that both my feet and ankles were swelling alot. Not just a little puffy either.

Could this be caused by the norvasc? I've had alot of problem with my feet the last couple of years, so I'm not sure what's causing this.

Kathy,

It almost certainly caused by the Norvasc. Among the many side effects of Norvasc, swollen ankles are among the most annoying.

I think it's another drug class for you.

Re: Swelling from Norvasc???

I went off Norvasc recently due to swelling. I was in agony. My legs were like rocks. I still have swelling, but not half as bad as on Norvasc.

Re: Swelling from Norvasc???

Lenin, my mom's doctor said to take a diuretic to reduce the swelling. Is that correct? I was just wondering bcuz my mom tried that when she was on norvasc and it didn't help her. Just my two cents.

Re: Swelling from Norvasc???

I just increased my norvasc last week, and when I took off my shoes and socks to get ready for bed last night, I didn't recognize my own feet. Especially my ankles. I hope this is only until I get used to the increase, cause it wasn't much of a problem until now, but when I looked it up in the PDR, it lists swelling as one of the more common side effects. Always something, ya know.......?
