Re: addicted to clonazepam

DO NOT GO COLD TURKEY OFF OF THIS MEDICATION!!!! You are going to have to slowly wean yourself down. If you are unable to do it on your own you will need someone who can hold the medication for you and give you your allotted amount per day.

Coming of benzos was by far the worse withdrawal I ever had. I went cold turkey and truly almost killed myself.

well done on wanting to stop, I wish you well in following it through in a slow and controlled manner as suggested.

Re: addicted to clonazepam

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto to every post ahead of this one. C/T with benzo's is the worst. I had a nearly 4 year habit of Klonopin, for restless legs. Started on .5 mg and over the years docs prescribed up to 2-3 2mg. tabs every night. Often I took more than that.

I did cold turkey (I went to my doc, told him his level of script was not helping the restless legs and I was supplementing with internet sources and he cut me off and stopped seeing me as a patient.) I only recently found out that I was very lucky not to have had seizures...or even died. Nine days I went with no sleep.

Coming off benzos is hard. Find a a good recovery doc who can help you with a good taper plan. There's some good advice here as well. Read, read, read and post, post, post, Ask advice. Where to get help. What works?

Count on sleepless nights, depression, high anxiety, and other wds. NOT TRYING TO DISCOURAGE YOU. Just trying to paint a realistic picture of the next few days and weeks. (The first two weeks coming off benzos was the worst. I lost 20 pounds). STILLI MADE IT WITH NO MEDICAL HELP AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD. NO TAPERING, NO ANTI-DEPRESSANTS.

If you can't afford rehab, at least seek a good doc's help for home rehab and surround yourself with supportive friends and the good people of this community. This is a great place. Many people here have been where you are and have made it to the other side. You can do it. You can have your life back.
