Re: Cybalta Users I Need Your Help Please

Gosh, after reading all this, I am SERIOUSLY considering going back to what I know pulls me out of the depression and that's Lexapro, but gosh, darn it, I hate the heaviness I feel on it, I hate the cravings and I hate the sexual side effects, but on it I sure am not CRYING! I'm so tempted to go back on it!!!!

Cymbalta takes away my appetite, but I spend most of my day in bed or crying...what kind of life is that?

Boy, it's almost like I have to take it just to get my life back! I can't stand this any longer! I'm on my knees crying out to God to please help this medicine work, I'm screaming out to friends to pray for me, I'm crying to my family.

This is such a Catch-22, it drives me crazy!!!!! I'm going to do it! I'm going to take 10 mg. Lexapro in the morning and still call my dr. He told me I could switch from Lexapro immediately to Cymbalta so I should be able to do the reverse.

I've got to. I just can't do this another day...even if I knew I would get better in 5 days, I still couldn't take it. My dr. has to try another one. There are plenty I haven't tried. Maybe he'll have another idea after I'm sane enough and stop crying long enough to go see him.

Thank you all. You saved me.

Re: Cybalta Users I Need Your Help Please

Salty-
You didn't say if you were going to add the lexapro to the cymbalta, or if you were just going to drop cymbalta altogether. Be really careful quitting cymbalta- go down to the low dose, and wean yourself off. I went off with my dr's help, and still had a little trouble. I got very, very lightheaded, and felt several times like I was going to blackout, and was having bad dizzy spells (they gradually subsided day by day). The only way I could describe it to my doc was that it felt like my head was filled with water, and my brain was bobbing around loose! Okay, so that sounds a tad bit dramatic, but that's the best way to explain it. I have read that cymbalta is one of the harder ones to come off of. But we all know the Golden Rule of Antidepressants: Everyone reacts differently

Re: Cybalta Users I Need Your Help Please

Well, trainerjenn, it's too late...I already went off the Cymbalta because my dr. said in the past as long as you are switching from one A.D. to another, you're okay. That's what I did when I went from Lexapro to Cymbalta.

I switched without much problem. I'm still depressed of course, but I'm not crying--haven't cried all day. My dr. nor his assistant was available so I left a message stating what I was doing and that when the depression lifted, I would be in to see him.

I think with my body, I should know within a few days if the A.D. is going to work or not. This waiting weeks isn't for me. I think my body reacts right away or else it's not going to work at all and I should have known that w/the Cymbalta. After the 3th or 4th day, I just should have known, instead of being so miserable.

Lexapro takes away my depression in 3 days. If I'm in a brain fog, the MOMENT I take the Lexapro, the fog lifts...that's how my body reacts to Lexapro.

I'm going to keep trying things. Chrismom suggested prozac, I had always heard weight gain and sexual side effects there too, but I don't know. I just need something that doesn't have those 2 side effects (and if so, not so severe).

Thanks for writing,

Salty

Re: Cybalta Users I Need Your Help Please

Salty my problem has been sexual side effects and weight loss. All of them causes me to have no sex drive except for wellbutrin but that doesn't make me feel better. They have got to come up with something that doesn't interfere with the sex. It burns me up really!!

Exclamation Re: Cybalta Users I Need Your Help Please

PLEASE PLEASE anyone taking Cymbalta do your research before going on this horrible drug...IF or WHEN you try and get off of it, its a terrible experience, I know what I am talking about because my mom quit taking it and had the worst withdrawl problems ever, and as I do more research, there are A TON of others having the same symptoms...In fact, we are trying along with a bunch of others to get a class action lawsuit against the manufactures because its almost impossible to get off the drug...its wonderful to be on it, great for energy and depression, BUT....when you decide to go off of them wether you are on them for 1 month or 1 year, the withdrawls are the same and intensify the longer you take them....Please RESEARCH before....
