Very Frequent Urination

HELP I am desperate.
I am looking for an answer to my very frequent urination problem. I woke up during the night about 4 years ago and had to urinate about every 20 minutes and about every hr during the day. I went to the doctor and they put me on Leavaquin even though my urine and blood showed no signs of any trouble.
This problem went away in about a week or two.
I had this same problem last summer and again about a week or so with Leavaquin and it was gone.
However it started up again around Christmass and has not since gone away. I have had ok nights but many bad nights. Here about a week ago it started up real bad and it is not quiting. I just went into a Urology center yesterday and they looked at my Kidneys and looked into my bladder and the Urologist is puzzled since my kidneys check out ok and so did my bladder. The good news is no Cancer or scar tissue etc... also my spinchter muscle is working fine.
The bad news is when they tested my bladder by injecting saline solution I could not hold but very little and my bladder would have a very strong urge to let go.
The Urologist I think is puzzled as to why I am having any problems, also why did it clear up 4 years ago and also last year, but it is not going away this time. I have not had but very little sleep in the last week and I am getting desperate for any kind of answer.
I was put on 10 mg a day of Vesicare and just started taking it yesterday but have not had any results yet. Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have two beautiful daughters I am raising, but I am having a tough time being able to be much of a father right now.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Very Frequent Urination

Ask your doctor about meds. The frequency problem, if it isn't UTI and it persists, can be treated with Ditropan, Detrol, Sanctura, and other meds.

Re: Very Frequent Urination

You may have the same problem I do - bladder neck obstruction. But the doctor should have been able to diagnose that through the test you had - apparently he didn't. I got the diagnosis 4 years ago and have tried Flomax with a lot of success and uroxatrel with some success. Ask your physician about them. I was like you for several months - getting up a lot at night, always feeling the need to go right after I went. They at first thought it was a prostate problem but I had no pain and checks showed a normal prostate. So eventually they figured out it was this bladder neck thing, which is evidently common among men in their 30s. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies, The bladder neck was fine. I am going to another Urologist and he thinks it could be a case of Prostatitis. I had a flare up about a month before Christmass and I was put on Cipro. I felt good after about a week and I foolishly quit taking my cipro, then when if flared up at Christmass time I had 3 Cipro pills left so I took them. I noticed over the next 3 months that I had quite frequent urination problems and then boom it really hit about 3 weeks ago.
I think a bacteria has had a chance to get a good grip on me and might take trying several antibiotics for several weeks to get this under control, of course only one antibiotic at a time.
I was put on Vesicare from my first Urologist but that didn't do anything for me except to seem to make it worse. I am now taking Sulfa/Trimethoprin and have been on it 10 days. I have not had a lot of success yet, but I was told it could take 4 weeks or more to take hold.
The more I read about prostatitis, the more it looks like this could take some time to get rid of, or at least get it under control.

Re: Very Frequent Urination

How frequent is frequent in your case? I mentioned to my Urologist that I got up to pee 2-3 times a night, along with retention, and I ended up having a Cystoscopy to check my bladder. I've been told that I had an elongated bladder neck and have been on Flomax for a week now. It helped with the night time peeing, but the side effects are not good.
