question re: lower sex drive

I'm just curious, I hear a lot of women say that they lose some/a lot of their sex drive on the pill.

Well, my experience with it is that, I still have a high desire for sex. I've always been a very sexually-charged person, and so I still want to do it a lot. BUT...I don't have the same enjoyment as I used to. It's not a lack of lubrication, it's nothing physical really...it's just that whereas I never had any problem orgasming in the past, now I do. I'll go several weeks where I either don't have one at all, or after a loooooong time having sex/foreplay etc. I may have one. Then, all of a sudden, I"ll have a streak of being able to orgasm very easily--and they're much more intense as well.

So, I guess my question is, is this what some of you experience when you describe "lower sex drive?" Is what I describe something that many women experience as a side effect of the pill? Or could there be something wrong with me?

No your experience pretty much summarizes my sex life up! Sometimes i'll be thinking i have to change pills! Then a week later im having great sex, then i wont even want my boyfriend to touch me. They are definately phases.

Re: question re: lower sex drive

I agree with that. I have the same issue. One month everything will be fine, and than the next I don't want to be touched and have absolutely no desire to have sex with my boyfriend.
It fluctuates... that's the only issue I have with my pills.
I've thought about quitting taking them several times... but than when I think about how fantastic they work when it comes to everything else I really don't want to quit taking them.
I guess it's pretty common.

Re: question re: lower sex drive

thisgirl--sucks that this is a side effect, because i'm completely happy with my pill too, otherwise.

What makes me different from most stories I hear is that, I haven't lost the desire. I still want to have sex all the time, and I still enjoy it, I just don't climax at all sometimes.

Re: question re: lower sex drive

I had a low sex drive on loestrin and desogen, neither of them worked for me. I had a great sex drive on Tricycline, but it made me angry and very aggressive the week before my period. I am not on Yasmin and getting severe headaches, lathargy, and dizziness.

Isn't there a pill out there that works well?
