Flossing

Why Is It So Hard To Make Myself Floss? I Have Gum Disease And Have To Get My Teeth Cleaned Every 10 Weeks Because My Pockets Around My Teeth Are 4 And 5 Mm In Some Palces. I Know Flossing Everyday Would Help Tremendously But I Can't Seem To Do It.
Does Anyone Have Any Suggestions????????????

Re: Flossing

I had gum disease and have to have my teeth cleaned at the perio every 3 months. You MUST floss your teeth. I floss after every meal. I keep floss all over the place - even in my purse. If you don't floss regularly, the plaque will harden. If you already have pockets, you have to take care of your teeth. I also use GUM proxa brushes - thin brushes that go in between the teeth. They're really good. I know it's a pain to always have to floss, but if your pockets get deeper, you will eventually have to have gum surgery, as I did. It's not fun, believe me.

Re: Flossing

I am not sure why but I used to love flossing (now I have bridges and can no longer do this). I loved the clean feeling it gave my teeth. Have you tried one of the flavored ones? The waxed type is much easier than non wax to get between teeth, and if you go slowly while pressing it against your teeth as you bring it up, it does not hurt. Is it the sound or click it makes when it passes between the teeth that bothers you? If so only pass it between the teeth once, clean up and down on both teeth without bringing it all the way up passed the teeth until you are done. That way you only hear the sound or click twice. Also they now have those individual flossers you can use and they are very easy on the fingers.

Re: Flossing

I used to floss at night while I was watching TV- WHEN I had teeth! I used those little brushes, too. They were GREAT! The spaces in between my teeth at the gumline were so big I had to tie a knot in the floss! I used to get all up in it!
I would LOVE seeing all that smelly gunk come out of there and would keep going over my mouth till there was none left!
Think of it that way, and try doing it when watching TV if nothing else. And yes, wax was better! Mint or not, didn't matter to me..
You know how you feel when you have a nice clean house? Nothing better!
And yes, I diligently floss the 4 have left. but the fun is gone. Ha Ha
