Unhappy Replacement filling pain

Yesterday I had to have a filling replaced because I lost some of the filling while eating. I was in a lot of pain before the new filling and afterwards my tooth felt fine for the rest of the day. I thought the problem was solved but I woke up this morning and it feels like the tooth is on fire. I have had fillings replaced before and don't remember having pain before. Is this normal? Thanks, Kay
