Question Nuvaring v. Ortho-Lo???

Ok, I first started bc 6 years ago. I started on the Depo shot and did fine for about 2 1/2 yrs...then I started having constant bleeding and excessive weight gain. Since then (about 3 yrs) I've been on the Nuvaring. Well, I'm 5'8" and weigh about 185 lbs. I've been eating healthy and excercising 3-5 times/wk and can't lose a single pound! Plus the low sex-drive, discharge, mood swings, etc. I've also experienced severe acne that's gotten worse over the last year (something I've never had before). Today, my doc switched me to Ortho-Lo and said I should lose weight and my face should clear in 6 months. If anyone has been on one or the other or both and could give me some extra insight, I wuld really appreciate it!!!

Re: Nuvaring v. Ortho-Lo???

I cant comment on the nuvaring, but I have been on ortho-lo for almost a year now and I really do like this pill. I have been on the regular ortho tri cyclen and gained about 10 lbs, so when I was put on ortho-lo I was worried about the weight gain, but I have done really well, maybe the dreaded 3 lbs but thats all. My face stays very clear and I only get a few minor pimples around that time of the month. My periods last only 3 days and mood swings are minor, not bad at all. I would be very sad if I have to change pills because I have been very satisfied with it. I did spot on and off for the first 3 months, but it did stop in the 4th month, so If you try this pill give it atleast 3 months. Hope this helps.
