Re: Ultram

Hi Oddie,
Welcome, what kind of meds might help depends on what type of pain your having, is it from a compressed nerve? Not everyone does well on the same meds either, Ultram didn't do anything for me. I'm not sure if you can be on that long term, if you put ultram in the search on this sight, you should be able to find that info out if you dont' get an answer from someone on here.

I have done well on the neurontin, but that is for nerve damage pain, I have had 4 fusions, the first two have failed, the last two were done this past Nov. they were done 4 days apart. They could not fix the gr. 2-3 splondy but did stabilize it from getting any worse, also fusion from L4-S1 with cages, screws and rods.

I do hope you continue to do well on the ultram, and once again, welcome!

God Bless

Carol

Re: Ultram

Dear Oddie, My doctor also prescribed Ultram for me (bulging disc and facet joint arthritis L3-L5). I have not taken it yet-are you able to work/drive on it? I take care of my 4 kids full time, and I didn't want to take it while I am in charge of them. I could take it at night when my husband gets home-let me know what side effects you have and how "out of it (or not)" that you feel. thanks, Kera

Re: Ultram

Hi Oddie-
I started on Ultram about a month ago. I had a rough start on it - nausea, itchiness, and hot sweats. Most all of that is past but I still take a benedryl with it to cut down on the itchiness. I always take 2 pills (50 mg each) because 1 just doesn't do much. Even at 2 pills, it only takes the edge off but it is enough for me right now. I, too, must work so it helps me do that and that is how I measure success. Ultram, or Tramadol, is an interesting drug and, as mamkitkat says, you will find plenty of info on it if you search this board. I think it is considered a very safe drug and can be used long-term but some people do experience addiction and anyone would need to carefully wean off of it and not go cold turkey - some folks report really BAD withdrawal experiences when they just stop taking it. Hope this helps - Suzy-Q
