Post Please Help!!!!

Hello,

I am bloated and constipation (stoumach distended) 85% of the time. I have hard pellet like stools and occassional stoumach pains. I maybe have a regualr bowel movement 1 or 2 times a week if lucky.

I have tried fiber, colace, and laxitives. Nothing has worked or maybe I have not given them a long enough duration.

I started taking citricel last Friday and take it every night. I also have been drinking allot of fluids. The first coulple of days I felt better but then got bloated again. How long should I try fiber therapy to see if it works? What dose of Citricel should I take?

Also are there any foods or drinks to avoid, that may be adding to the problem?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you,
David

A few easy steps you can take to help: eat live culture yogurt (no sugar), acidophilus, miso, raw garlic. These help establish a healthy intestinal environment. Try freshly ground flax seed daily (start with 1 tablespoon or less and build to 2 tablespoons as tolerated)to soothe the distress you're feeling, make your stools easier to pass, provide Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids, aid with intestinal cleansing (while soothing), and provide a great source of fiber (that your body can actually use).

binding foods you might check out: cheeses, some nuts, starchy foods (potatoes, rice, crackers, white bread, etc), ANY boxed-mix foods, devitalized processed foods.

Not knowing what your diet is, it's hard to say. But, if MOST of the foods you eat are processed (fast foods, fried, high-carbohydrate(simple carbs), high fat, etc), it may be as easy as switching to whole and/or raw foods.
Good luck

Is this yogurt aviable in a grocery store? What brand should I loof for. Acidophilus, is this milk? and where do I get miso?

I really do not eat any of the above. Are certain cereals/oatmeal bad? what about coffee and Orange Juice? Rye or Whole wheat Bread?

I have alow fat diet and do not eat fried foods or processed food.

David, I had your problem for ten years. I lived on fiber and prunes. I often was so constipated that I was afraid to go to the bathroom due to the pain. Recently I had my third baby. He had colic real bad, and the doctor told me to stop drinking MILK and avoid dairy products, while I was breast feeding. I did and I have been regular for 6 months. I do have lactose free milk occassionally, but it doesn't cause me to be constipated. I found the cure to my problem, and I am so thankful that it was as simple as that. I would advise you to try to avoid dairy for one month, and see if that is your problem. i finally told my doctor what happened and he said there are so many people living with dairy allergies and intolerances. Before you waste a lot of money on medicine and tests please try this. I wish you the best! Please keep us posted on the results. Kris

I had very hard stools always, now take 500 mg. of magnesium every night and became as regular as clockwork!
Take more or less according to your experience from it.
