Acne and birth control

Does birth control help with acne? If so how much?

yes, it does very much from what I have experienced. I had bad acne, and then started the pill and it all went away. sure you get a pimple sometimes but nothing that bad.

My experience with the pill is opposite from Zenpunk's. I had mild acne before I started the pill (probably about 1 or 2 pimples on my face). I had always wanted to try the pill just to see if it would completely clear my skin, but I didn't end up using it until I needed it because I got married. I have been on the pill for exactly one year now and my face looks so horrible! I have so many scars and get new huge pimples every day that take their time to go away! I have been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Low, Loestrin, and now Demulen within the past year and my face is still a wreck! If I don't see any improvement soon then I am probably going to stop taking it. Some people think that I would have acne this bad with or without the pill, but I know its not true because my face clears up the week I am off it.

I guess I am just saying that birth control pills are different for everyone.... hopefully you will be lucky and it will clear your face up!

birth control helped my face alot when i was on it a couple years ago. Ortho Tri Cyclen actually made my face terrible when i tried it which is why im not on anything now, but i was on a generic brand before that and it helped my skin so much, but my experience and friends experiences with Ortho Tri Cyclen were all bad so if you can stay away from that one!! My sisters on Yasmin i think and it cleared her skin.

It has helped my acne a little. Desogen, Yasmin, and Mircette (in that order) have all been helpful. Ortho Tri-Cylen Lo made it slightly worse. If you have anything other than mild acne you probably need to combine it with a prescription topical to get best results.
