Question swelling/pain in esophagus!!

I was diagnosed with GERD in feb 2001. I was having a sensation that there was something stuck in my throat to the point of gaging. I have tried Prilosec and Nexium and continue to have a problem. I just had a thyroid ultrasound and will have a scan this week. I have trouble swallowing and pain/swelling in that region. I feel like I am going insane. My doctor feels like GERD would not cause all of these problems.

If anyone has these problems and could share a diagnosis they received or advice I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

ROSI

Hi, I have had throat problems for 5 months, my doc thought it was post nasal drip due to allergy. After trying allergy meds I started to think it was something else. I have a post nasal drip, lump in throat sensation and always trying to swallow. I have been trying Mylanta for 2 weeks which has helped a bit and as soon as I run out I can feel the tightness in my throat again. I am going to the ENT specialist tomorrow so shall report back.

Specialist said reflux is going up to my throat and has put me on losec which is probably your prilosec. I have a 3 month prescription and he hopes by about a month I should feel better.
