Exclamation Grandmothers Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm is 7.5 cm big!

Hello all

I have heard that this is a big size and the Dr's are trying to get her a workup now to make sure all will be well in th surgery. There is where my concerns lie. My grams is 77 years old and she has high blood pressure, smokes ( well recently stopped after she found this out) I am afraid of the stress of the surgery itself not if they can fix it. Does anyone know or know of someone's story?

Hi,
My husband is on watchful waiting and now is going to have surgery. He is at 4.8. He is 72. He will have the endovascular stent put in through the leg arteries and will go home in 1 or 2 days. Most major medical centers do this type of repair. The aneurysm must be the right configuration for the stent. Ask your grams vascular surgeon about the procedure. Keep us posted on how she does.

Hi Sivad

Thanks for responding!!! We came from the Dr's Thursday and they are doing the less invasive surgery!! Same as your husband. She is 77. Have you heard of any vision loss with this disease? Today my grams said she can't see out of one eye, I am not sure if it is because of the condition or the increase in her meds Lovastatin for her high blood pressure...............
