Uncontrolled sneezing

First off.. I do have allergies, but my drs and I believe that it is not related to it, because I have no other symptoms.

Over the past 3 weeks I've had bouts of uncontrollable sneezing, up to the point where I've passed out from sneezing and also vomited. They checked me for whooping cough, and the test hasn't come back yet. They also think that there may be something in my brain misfiring causing all the sneezing, I have been taking muscle relaxants and also a medicine to block the mechinism in my brain from thinking it needs to sneeze. I have been taking the meds for two days and the sneezing hasn't lessened.

It is somewhat like a cough sneeze and the sneezing fits usually consist of at least 20 sneezes in rapid sucession.

Re: Uncontrolled sneezing

Hi there.

Oh my god that is a LOT of sneezing. And for you to pass out from them must be very scary. I hate to say this but it really could be based on your allergies. Minor allergies can escalate into severe, flu like symptoms. Have you tried any antihistamines?

Re: Uncontrolled sneezing

I've tried all the antihistamines... and was put on Singular, along with flonase and advair. It feels like it's in my chest now. I have a dr appt tomorrow so we'll see what she says.

Re: Uncontrolled sneezing

Is the Singulair helping you? I am on this too and its made no difference to my Asthma. Yes see what the doctor says. H/she can give you some very strong antihistamines that will help you with the sneezing.

Re: Uncontrolled sneezing

They've seriously tried everything... I went to the er, they gave me a steroid shot, tried benedryl, I use everything I'm supposed to.. but the sneezing is as though it's from my chest. I've sneezed so much some times it's made me throw up. They also tested me for whooping cough to see if that might be the thing causing it.
