Pill reviews/experiences!

Hi everyone. I''ve been on Alesse for a few months (too light, I bled for weeks), and now I'm on Diane 35 and have been for 3 months now. The thing is, Diane 35 is associated with a high risk of blood clots (higher than the usual BC risk) and therefore I feel uncomfortable being on it for too long. In the USA it's only prescribed as a treatment for severe acne whereas in Canada it can be used as BC as well (although either way it is technically a contraceptive). It is a great pill in terms of side effects and such for me- no spotting, no emotional or physical differences (that Ive noticed), and my skin has definitely improved.

I'm looking to get off this pill though, because of the aforementioned risk, and I was wondering what other people's opinions were on some of the more popular brands: Marvelon, OrthoTCLo and Yasmin (and anyo thers ppl want to share stories about!). I guess something that isn't TOO high hormone is better for me, judging by the success of Diane 35..but I'd like to know what others felt about these pills, especially concerning these areas:

1. Skin- improvements, no diff, or worse in terms of acne?
2. Weight gain/loss/no change
3. Emotional change (ie caused depression or mood swings, etc)
4. Libido changes
5. Spotting/bleeding if any (when not supposed to be)

Thank you SO much in advance for your responses..they'll really help me out tons as I try to figure out the pill I want..

GG

Re: Pill reviews/experiences!

I've been on OrthoTricyclen Lo for almost a year and a half and I love it. This is the first pill I've ever tried, and I never had any problems with it. Thankfully it worked for me right away.

1. Skin- I didn't have terribly bad skin, but I did get breakouts before my periods. Once I started OTCLo my skin improved drastically. Now I get like 1 or 2 zits occasionally, and only before my period. So it definitely improved my skin.
2. Weight - I didn't have much weight change at all... nothing noticable. My clothes fit the same and I'm still around the same weight I used to be, so I don't think there was any difference at all.
3. Emotional change - I didn't experience any changes in mood at all.
4. Libido changes - This is the only area that is a bit problematic. I had a very high libido before I stated the pill, now it fluctuates a lot. Usually it's very low (unfortunately), but every once in a while it gets back to normal.
5. Spotting/bleeding - I had no spotting at all.

It definitely works great for me. Other than the libido thing everything else is wonderful. I'm definitely very satisfied with it.
Good luck on your search for that "perect pill," and I hope this helps.

I took several different pills before finally finding the right one for me. Mircette (Kariva) are excellent pills! No weight gain, bloating, or anything negative!

Hi
This is my first pack of OrthoTricyclen Discreet

Improved 1. Skin- improvements, no diff, or worse in terms of acne?
No change I am very petite 2. Weight gain/loss/no change
No Change 3. Emotional change (ie caused depression or mood swings, etc)
No Change 4. Libido changes
No Problems 5. Spotting/bleeding if any (when not supposed to be)

I would say that my skin cleared up a bit as I get a mild acne. My breast have been tender for the entire time but gained in fullness and size, I was a bit nautious and still get that was every so often.

This is my 3rd week so I am nearly finish. I am a bit scared since I have been having unprotected sex the entire time, but the next week will tell. My only concern is the tender breast.

Re: Pill reviews/experiences!

Ok I took ortho tri cyclean lo for almost a year and towards the end I started to get a little bit of spotting. It never made me nausous, never lowered my sex drive, never messed with my emotions or anything. The doctor just said that after a while the hormone was not strong enough for me and that was what was causing the spotting. I am now on Yaz. I kinda like it. The first week I was on it I got a little nausous but that ended quickly. After about a week or so I started to notice myself getting moody. (my boyfriend claims to really notice it) I cry for no reason sometimes and I get mad easily on it. My doctor says to give it a few more months becuase it takes that long for my body to get used to it. My period only lasted like less than 24 hours on it so that was great!
