Hello, why isnt the Dr. doing something more than just the medication for your ulcers if they are bleeding?....I had to have transfusions when mine were bleeding and was in hosp. for days.....Have you talked to him recently?...Also, do they dilate your stricture...I have been having mine dilated about every 6 wks lately because it is being very stubborn....I wouldnt wait to long with a bleeding ulcer before I found someone to do something about it......I hope you get better soon......Cathy

I believe if you have an ulcer you are supposed to be on a combo of PPI (like nexium, etc) and an anti-biotic or something not just a PPI. That won't kill the h.pylori.

You should do a search on the internet to see what the common treatments are.

About 85% of peptic ulcers are caused by H. pylori bacteria. The standard test is a blood test and scope of your stomach.

The treatment is to take 2 antibiotics and a PPI for 2 weeks. It's sold in a try pack with a script at drug stores.

A reliable test to determine if the ulcer has been cure is a breath test several weeks after treatment. The bacteria stays in the blood for months after treatment so the blood test is not reliable.

Suzy is right a proton pump inhibitors alone can't kill the bacteria in a short time --- it helps with the closing problem for my wife.
But, that is the way they use to treat ulcers for many years -- with Tagamet type drugs and milk ---- low stomach acid is effective but it takes alot longer.

I wish you well---Harry
