going to the bathroom: Compulsion

It is very strange... I always go to the bathroom (urinate) alot throughout the day, but I realize that before I do certain things I have to go and try even if I just went. For example, before I eat, go to sleep, I have to go. If I go and then I eat and 2 minutes later re-heat my food, I have to go again.. anyone else have this?

Re: going to the bathroom: Compulsion

I have to go to the bathroom alot anyways, but it has caused some problems with my OCD. For awhile I used to worry that I would pee my pants in public so anytime I felt like I had to go just the slightest bit I'd have to get to a bathroom. If I started feeling like I had to go say in class or work, my anxiety would get so high worrying that I would pee my pants. Sometimes I would even check to make sure I hadn't. Although it seems silly now, it was a real fear at the time.

I also go before I do anything. Before I leave the house is a must, and sometimes I'll go and start to walk to the door, and then turn back and go again. Before bed I have my little ritual, I go, then count to 37, and go again. I'm not sure why.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what your talking about, but hopefully it relates somewhat. Oh, and you're aloud to laugh about my fear about peeing my pants.

Re: going to the bathroom: Compulsion

I had to do this all throughout ninth grade. I literally had to go to the bathroom before every class and try to go, even though I never did. It was like a checking compulsion of sorts, and it was very annoying. I grew out of it in tenth grade, when my OCD got really bad, and my pure obsessions came back to overtake everything else. I've noticed that, when my OCD is mild-moderate, but right before I have a year of a bad bout with it, I have checking compulsions where I don't even realize that I'm doing something obsessive-compulsive...

Re: going to the bathroom: Compulsion

I know I'm a little late on this- but YES

It's one of the few physical compuslions I have (most are mental)- I have to pee before I go to sleep, before a good meal, before a cigarette (no every cigarette but before long awaited ones)- sometimes I go to bed and I don't feel like I have to pee but I can't remember if I did or not so I go and find that I don't have to at all (because I had just done it like 5 minutes before and forgot)- my husband just laughs at me (lovingly)

Re: going to the bathroom: Compulsion

Yep, me too. But I actually have a theory on this.
In my family, being a girl meant that you simple HAD to go for a wee before you left the house, sat at the dinner table, got into bed ect otherwise I'd hear
"You had better go now or you wont get the chance when we're in the car or you're dinner will get cold or you don't want to have an accident in the middle of the night.
I swear I can wee on cue from my mum insisting that I went to the toilet lest I would be unable to go anytime in the near future
Does any of that sound familiar to you girls?
